Happy Memorial Day!

I am having a great Memorial Day Weekend and hope you all are having the same.  It is still cool here in the Rockies but I am finally seeing some seedlings sprout up in the garden.  I still cover some of the young plants at night since temps are still dipping into the 30's at night.  In addition to planting, I have been doing some clean up in the yard.  I had a couple of branches from an aspen tree that some delivery guys broke off last fall.  So.....I drug them into my workshop and cut them up.  My hubs thought I was crazy(er) but after I was done, I took them inside to my studio and made these cute little snowmen ornies out of them.

On the first one, I painted the face, buttons, etc.  On the second one, I left the wood natural, twisted the wire differently, and added the eyes and mouth with a sharpie.  (The nose was painted on)

I think that I will sell a ton of these, especially with a tag stating they are from Colorado Aspens.  I am offering the kits in my Etsy shop as well as the aspen discs.  The kits will come with directions and all materials except paint.

Have a great and safe weekend, my friends, and remember why we are celebrating.  Many have given their lives so we can continue to go to the beach, the campsite, the mall and the garden.  Good bless our veterans and active duty servicemen.

New shop announcement!

Howdy, my friends.  Busy as usual here.  It has really been crazy.  Can you believe it?  Last week, late May, 2017, we got about a foot and a half of the white stuff.  Roads were closed, traffic jammed, and our hummingbird feeders frozen.  Aaahhh, springtime in the Rockies.  I was smart enough to cover the plants in the garden and bring in the ones in pots, but it was still a shocker to have to get the snow shovel back out....

I have shared over the years all about my thrifting....the Longest Yard Sale.....the Nebraska Junk Jaunt....and Mile Hi Thrift Store.  But what I haven't shared is that I have just bought too much stuff!  Sure, I repurpose some things.  I sold some things at a vintage market that I did last fall.  But my poor little house is bursting at the seams!  So, since my Etsy shop is doing well with my hand made items and especially my crafting supply items, I decided to open a second shop for some vintage items.  Please come and visit my second shop:  The Raggedy Peddler.  And let me know if there was one of those great buys you saw posted here but don't see listed.  I have only had time to list 15 items so far but I have many more to come.

And talking about Etsy......I have listed a lot of rusty tin items, buttons, and more.  If I have inspired you to make any of my posted creations, you just might find some of the supplies there.

In addition to all of this excitement, I have finished up a couple of Christmas items....
I found the metal cone at my favorite thrift store.  I added the foliage and a few white pip berries.  The snowflake picks were some of the  unpainted ones that I bought at Michaels after Christmas for like 80% off.  I painted and added a coarse glitter.  Silver bow from more of my after-holiday bargain shopping.  This bow took an entire roll of ribbon, but it is so worth it.
The sleigh is of course from the thrift store, as well as the brightly colored ornie picks.  I bought the elf feet at one of the craft stores after the holidays.  I don't know if you can tell or not, but I added lights to this as well.  Someone is going to fall in love with the whimsy of this piece.
Off to do some much needed housework.  And laundry.  And dishes.  Or maybe I'll just watch Dr. Phil.  haha

Blog Drought

Yep, it's been forever since I have blogged, but it surely is not that I haven't been thinking of ya'll. Hubs was unemployed since February, and tho it kinda invaded some of my personal space, I have to admit, I enjoyed the company.  He's back to work now tho.  I had two Spring shows and spent Easter in Cheyenne with the family. I kept my 5 year old granddaughter for a week which was fun but exhausting.  I planted most of my garden and have been cleaning out my craft room and storage.

In the process of decluttering, I have listed some craft supplies in my Etsy store.  Remember these little angels?
Well, in my cleaning, I found some more of the spindles that I used for them.  There is also cinnamon sticks, can lids, rusty witches, etc.  Check it out!

I found some small wooden cutouts that I painted and glittered and glued on pin backs.  I still have to design a card to put them on, but I think they turned out pretty cute.....
I got these little jars at the thrift store.  I think I found about a dozen of them.  I had the little bottle brush trees, ribbon, and ceramic tags.  Voila!  Snow globes!

Also working on some oldies but goodies.....candy canes, angel ornies, and ping pong snowmen.

Well, it's time to check on our baby chicks and carry the tomato plants outside.  We are forecasted to get snow later this week so we are still taking our tender plants in and out each day.  Life in the Rockies!  Have a great week!
