Birthday Weekend

What a great time I had in Texas last weekend!  My family is the best!  My sister set this all up and paid my entire way.  There is no way I can put into words my gratitude for everything that she did for me.  My sisters-in-law joined us and we stayed at a quaint little cabin in Fredericksburg, Tx.   Here are a few pics.
 Our living room.
Antique aprons on a drying rack.
The cabin's front door.

I loved the bathroom.....we just needed a shower curtain.

Though it rained steadily for two days, I had a great time.  We had a lot of laughs, some great shopping and ate some great food.  Sixty was most certainly memorable.  Thank you again, Sue.

Though last week was one of celebration, this week I am working at shutting the business down.  Hubby got a great opportunity to work for someone else and the business has been on the decline for a while.

As for me, I am applying for jobs, but am really concentrating on getting my business off the ground.  I will work on my website and continue to blog.  I am going to try to devote time every day to designing and creating, the things that I love to do and do well.

Have a great weekend.  Monday is the big 6-0!  A new chapter begins!

Pretty in Pink

I thought I would try my hand at doing a few of my own creations this weekend.  So either using my own patterns or improvising patterns that I have, I came up with some new items.  The first are my little annies, which I'm calling Pretty in Pink:

I actually made four of these, but two have the traditional red hair.

Last year, I bought a little felt deer at a craft show.  It wasn't handmade, but I felt that I could make one.  Though these are just my first attempt, here is the way they turned out:
And lastly, I bought a hog scraper (yes, I said a hog scaper)  a few years ago.  It has just sitting around and I never really knew what I was going to do it.  So here is what I came up with.  This one is my own design.

Have a great week everyone.  I am off mid-week for a girls' weekend for the big bday.  I'll have pics when I get back.....

Snowy weekend

It was a really snowy Friday and Saturday here.  I took this photo off the deck, looking down in front of the house.  The deer were munching away on the young foliage.  Kinda hard for them to find  food with snow this deep.

So what's a girl to do?  Well, I finished up these apple items that I had started.  More hooks, a small wooden apple box, and some apple cutting boards.  I bought these boards, unpainted, several years ago and had not done anything with them.  I really like the way they turned out.

I also had another bunch of porcelain ornaments.  They are a little different than the last ones I finished.
I had a pattern for a prairie dress.  I made a couple of these-very sweet.

I plan to put some greenery in the pocket and maybe attach a small wooden spoon.  I also finished two wash day clothes lines and one Santa clothesline.
And a couple more raggedies.  The first one I made into a little angel.
I made a couple of these Raggedies with lady bug print.  I just happened to have these little wooden lady bugs.

Well, on to the next project....now, what will that be??  More later....
