Breast Cancer Awareness

I think all of us have been touched by breast cancer.  My mother in law died from breast cancer and one of my sisters-in-law fought this disease and has thankfully triumphed over it.  So, in my own little way, I am trying to increase awareness by introducing my newest raggedy:  Hope.

Hope is about 18 inches and as you can see, is pink, pink, and more pink.  I love this fabric with the angels and pink ribons.  I have her for sale in my Etsy shop.  I have a second doll in the works, with diffent facial features.
I thought that this would be a great gift for someone struggling with a new diagnosis, a family member who is being supportive, or someone who has fought the battle and won.

In December 2009, I lost my daughter Brandi to cancer.  She fought bravely for nearly two years before the melanoma took her.  I miss her every single day.  I hope if you have a loved one that is fighting their own battle, that you will be supportive, loving, and compassionate.  It is a fight that no one should have to face alone.

Busy....birthday....anniversary.....

Its been a couple of weeks since I last posted but I have been so busy!  We had company from Illinois last weekend.  My brother in law and family spent a few nights here and it was so great to see them all.  We spent one day sightseeing in the mountains and one day celebrating hubby's birthday.  We had a cook out and the family came over to celebrate.  We also celebrated our 43rd wedding anniverary.  What a busy week!

So now it is back to creating.  I am working on two raggedies, a teddy bear, and some candy corns.  Right now it is a pile of unfinished fabric.  I did finish up some more angel ornies from dollar store flowers.  These are pink, and I think any little girl would love to hang these on her tree!
I also made some "Santa Clotheslines".  These are a great seller at my shows but are time consuming to do because they have quite a bit of hand stitching.  I pack them in bags, unassembled, so that they don't tangle.

Well, I've finished my second cup of coffee so it is really time to get started on my to do list.  More later....

Pretty in Pink

I thought I would try my hand at doing a few of my own creations this weekend.  So either using my own patterns or improvising patterns that I have, I came up with some new items.  The first are my little annies, which I'm calling Pretty in Pink:

I actually made four of these, but two have the traditional red hair.

Last year, I bought a little felt deer at a craft show.  It wasn't handmade, but I felt that I could make one.  Though these are just my first attempt, here is the way they turned out:
And lastly, I bought a hog scraper (yes, I said a hog scaper)  a few years ago.  It has just sitting around and I never really knew what I was going to do it.  So here is what I came up with.  This one is my own design.

Have a great week everyone.  I am off mid-week for a girls' weekend for the big bday.  I'll have pics when I get back.....
