Pumpkins and Sleepytime Santas

I know it has been a while since I posted, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy!  I finished up a whole bunch of pumpkins!

These are one of the simplest crafts that there is but they require alot of hand work.  I think I have enough for my fall shows now, but I'm sure if I find some of the right fabric, I will make more.  These would be great to set in each plate for Thanksgiving dinner, and instead of the sayings that I used, you could just stamp the names of your dinner guests.

I also have been working on my Sleepy time Santas.  These too, take a while to make, so I try to make several at one time.  Here are four in progress:

I sold every one that I made last year and once my shows were over, I made another for a gift.

The grand girls spent the weekend here.  It was so fun but a two year old has way more energy than I do!  I rested up yesterday so now it is time to get back to work!

New wood items

Last week, I spent a lot of time with Spring cleaning.  It all started with taxes, cleaning files, which led from the desk to the file cabinets.  That led to the file cabinets in my workshop, to storing things in the crawl space, etc.
I did cut up a few items, mostly experimenting:

Not really liking the angels, but the idea is there.  Maybe just cut triangles and add round ball heads.  The snowmen turned out well, but I will not add the arms in the future.  Too hard to pack.  Anyway, that's what designing is all about, trial and error.  Right now I am working on some Santa Clotheslines and I found another oar to paint, so I will get that started later today.

Springtime is here, snow one day, 70 degrees the next.  Confusing....do I shovel snow or plant the garden????  Can't wait for the snow to end......

Corn and a new pattern.

I finally got my new corn pattern finished, and I got more corn finished up for my Etsy shop.  The reason that it has taken me so long, I am embarassed to say, is that I forgot how to post the free pattern.  You know it is hard for me to remember yesterday sometimes, let alone a month or two ago.  Anyway, if you want to make this, simply click on the corn picture on the sidebar and it is available free of charge.  It looks like the picture page is upside down but if you are printing it out, it will work fine.  Keep in mind, that I made mine from scraps.  Use what you have.  I think these would be cute in an Indian corn print as well.

I also added a new gadget to my side bar.  If you sign up with your email address, you will automatically be notified when I add a new posting.  I haven't tested it, but I do this with some of the blogs I follow, and the actual posting is sent directly to my in box.  So I hope it works just fine.

Hubby went back to work, so I am once again home alone.  But I seem to get so much done!  Look at all the corn I finished!

I've also finished a few bobbleheads, some ornies, and today I am working on some Santa clotheslines.

Hope you enjoy the pattern!  Let me know how it works for you.

Springtime Snow

Here it is April and we are being buried in snow.....
Its one of those heavy wet snows, too.  Good day to stay in and work in the studio.....well, any day is a good day for that.

I did make up a few snow gauges.

Can you tell what they are made from?  Paint sticks!  I have had these for years.....in fact, I have a whole case of them.  All I did was paint them, I added some wood banner cut outs that I had on hand for the brims, glued on some greenery and drew on faces and measurements.  I thought it was cute to add things like "dusting", "call in sick", "just getting started" at intervals.  These were fast and cheap, and I think they will sell at my fall shows.  These are done on the large sticks, but you could do them on the smaller ones as well.

Well, off to do some damage in that studio.  A hot cup of coffee, a pair of sweats, and some fluffy slippers are all that I need!
